Antifungals Question
Diflucan or fluconazole prevents fungus growth by stopping the production of the membrane that surrounds fungi cells. The Food and Drug Administration approved fluconazole in January 1990. Side effects include diarrhea, dyspepsia, dizziness and taste problems. Liver dysfunction, as in jaundice or hepatitis has been associated with fluconazole. (1)

Are there any antifungal products either pharmaceutical or natural that actually support phase II liver detox? Right now I am taking Citricidal (I have to attribute my new tolerance of antifungals to OSR), but I think the grapefruit seed extract speeds up phase 1 liver detox, and I think I already have issues with that has most Mercury poisoned people do… most people with mercury poisoning have a slow phase II in relationship to phase 1. Years ago my phase 1 was already too fast in relationship to phase II, although I may have somewhat corrected that with additional thyroid medication. I cannot find anything online about an antifungal actually supporting phase II…… thanks for any input

I’ve not seen anything about how the antifungals affect the liver either. There was one person here at our website that said she needed more thyroid when using Diflucan. There used to be places on the net that said Diflucan interfered with steroid synthesis. Now you see literature that refutes that.

Thanks Polly. I guess I just sort of wondered whether all antifungals affected phase 1 liver detox… I have really been noticing feeling nauseous from the grapefruit seed extract, and it reminds me of the feeling I get when I drink strong black tea… which kills bacteria with tannins. I think it is all kind of overwhelming my liver… the good news is that I am not feeling that re-poisoning with the OSR that I used to get when killing Candida

I don’t think there really are antifungals that specifically support phase 2 liver function, however, I can share what has helped me, as I have a known defect in my phase 1 pathway that speeds up and thus overloads the liver to the point where phase 2 cannot keep up (for those who don’t know, this can cause autointoxication, a condition whereby the toxins you are trying to get rid of instead get stuck between pathways, and this causes most of the horrible die off type feelings and can prevent you from finally getting well.
Livatone and Livatone plus capsules by Dr. Sandra Cabot have been a godsend. I used to use “Liveraid” by Liverite, but after trying Dr. Cabot’s stuff, wow – her stuff rocks! I noticed a difference overnight in my liver function. The other thing is not to take any caffeine b/c that will take your already too fast phase 1 and make it even faster, compunding the problem. (Later, after you have healed some, you can pick and choose times for caffeine to help you push out toxins. I have noticed that as I improve, my phase 1 is not nearly as troublesome, and sometimes the right shot of coffee will help to start a detox, as long as I don’t exceed phase 2 capability). Other important things to consider are making sure you get adequate minerals and also that you are “going” number 2 every day at least once. Extra magnesium will help that. The juice of fresh lemon squeezed into water and sipped thoughout the day also helps. Cleansing foods are good as well. If you can tolerate beets, they are divine for liver function, as are carrots, celery, cucumbers, garbanzos. Turmeric is also very helpful. If you go to Sandra Cabot’s website, she has tons of liver info. I also get good reults from Jarrow Chlorella and getting at least 5,000 units of vitamin D3 have also helped.

Thanks so much for the input. Your approach makes a lot more than, just to support the liver while killing all of this internal buggery. Since I am rather financially challenged at the present time, I guess I will start eating beets to see if that helps. Betaine is one of my standard supplements, I keep it on the dining room table. But fortunately I am living in an area with a lot of agricultural amenities, and organic beets are easy to find. You are not the first person to mention Sandra Cabot, and most people find her supplements worthy I gather. It is just that getting things from the United States can be very pricey, with the exchange and the shipping. I am taking spirulina, never have tolerated chorella. I remember meeting a woman in a health food store who said he cured her lymphoma by eating a ton of beets… she said it really cleans the blood system and liver. I used to eat a lot of beets when I was a kid, my father grew them and we ate the tops also.

I like this article’s comment about organic beets… root vegetables do take up a lot of the soil heavy metals etc. that was one of my concerns about juicing so many carrots when I was doing that, even the organic ones I was concerned about. Thanks again.
