Gastroesophageal Reflux

05.02.2011 · Posted in Uncategorized

Gastroesophageal reflux, GERD or acid reflux, is when contents of the stomach regurgitates into the esophagus. The liquid can inflame and damage the lining of the esophagus (esophagitis). The regurgitated liquid usually contains acid and pepsin produced by the stomach. Pepsin is an enzyme that helps with the digestion of proteins. The reflux may contain bile from the duodenum which is attached to the stomach. Acid is the most injurious component of the refluxed liquid.(1)

I’ve been diagnosed with mild esophagitis (erosion of esophagus due to stomach acid reflux). My doctor prescribed prilosec because it turns off stomach acid, therefore promoting healing of the erosions on my esophagus.

However, I’ve had intestinal candida overgrowth for several years. I know stomach acid helps keep candida and other unfriendly organisms in check. I’m afraid to take the acid blocker because I worry that the candida will then grow completely out of control. So far, I’ve been keeping my candida levels down with herbs I take everyday.

I’m between a rock and hard place because I don’t want the erosions on my esophagus to get worse. I just don’t know what to do. Anyone have advice?

Dr. Lyn Hanshew said that she is seeing good results with zeolite for acid reflux… I think one of the standard medicines out there, it might be Pepcid is actually a zeolite. But when I do a search on Google, the only thing that is coming up is the NCD, which is a very expensive product… there are powdered zeolites, but I would be careful of purity because you don’t want contaminated zeolites. They routinely give powdered zeolites to animals because it helps digestion and then they put on weight faster. I would not take acid inhibitors because it will mess up digestion and deplete B12… I don’t know if there are some clays that might do the same thing. There are also products like this, but I have no experience with them and do not know how well they work

Use Of NCD In Hyperacidity And Acid Reflux States

The ability of zeolite to bind gastric acid can be dramatically effective in some individuals suffering from painful reflux of gastric acid onto the esophagus . Other persons with indigestion related to gastric acid may also obtain relief.

I’ve been through it.

PPI’s will kill you. They made my candida come back full force, back in the day.

Chlorophyll, Cabbage (vitamin U), and DGL. Three times a day of the directional dose.

with, probiotics and you will actually heal you.
