New to this horrible candida infection.

I have a horrible candida infection. I have started Caprylic Acid, Oregano Oil, getting colonics, ION Cleanse, and started the Candida Diet. I have been doing this for 2 weeks and I FEEL HORRIBLE!!! My sinuses are a little better. My body is still terribly swollen. I have researched die off symptoms but most indicate that the candida symptoms should dissipate in a few days. Well, 2 weeks and I still feel like I am dragging around a bowling ball. I can't seem to stay awake for more than 4 hours without wanting to take a nap. I don't want to give up but I really need to see some results before I get completely discouraged. I am also trying to lose about 20 pounds (which isn't the motivation for the candida diet). I don't think that I have lost an ounce. Can someone shed some light on all of this for me?

It sounds like you are going at this too fast. At least too fast for your body. People usually start with just the diet. The diet by itself is enough to make you feel poorly for a couple of weeks. Of course, there is a chance that something about the diet doesn't agree with you. What were your symptoms before you started this?

Red eyes
Stuffy ears (poor hearing)
Stuffy nose
Sinus infections
Lung infections
Achey joints
Swelling in my hands, face, and overall body
Cold hands and feet
Acne
Weight gain
Chronic fatigue
Acne
Bad breath
Vaginal infections
Itchy backside
Chronic constipation
Strong cravings for sweets

Traditional diagnoses have been ruled out. My brother had a bone marrow transplant and every meal I ate came from fast food places. I never drank water and lived on Diet Coke. I know that I have neglected my health and the symptoms show it. I know that it will take a good while before my body sheds the old stuff and starts to heal. I am not expecting a miracle cure but the fatigue has really gotten to me. It's about the same fatigue as I had before but it's gotten a little bit better. I just think that my body may be in shock from significant changes being made.

Hi Dee Dee,

You really sound sick. Sorry to hear about your brother's illness. That is a very bad strain on anyone. However, with a good diet, and some supplements, you should be feeling better soon.

The red eyes sounds like a liver problem. The liver has to filter all the bad stuff coming from the intestines, so it is to be expected that the liver is under stress at this time.

The stuffy ears, nose, and sinus may be the yeast / fungus.

The lung is often due to low thyroid. When the liver is under stress, then the thyroid hormone is usually low too.

Achy joints. If it is arthritis, that can be associated with immune activation caused by all the bacteria and yeast in the intestines.

Swelling is sometimes due to low energy capability of the cells. Sometimes it is the heart or kidneys.

Cold hands and feet are often due to low thyroid and / or low zinc.

Acne is often the liver being overloaded.

Weight gain might be the thyroid.

Chronic fatigue is infections and / or low thyroid.

Bad breath is often due to a type of bacteria that degrades methionine. It also suggests that there might be some trouble high up in the intestines. Some more bile and stomach acid might be of use.

Vaginal infections --- some of that infection is traveling from the intestines to the vagina via the
the lymph system. However, it also indicates that your hormones are probably off.

Itchy backside --- don't know. However, it can again be an overloaded liver.

Chronic constipation -- that can be due to a type of bacteria that produces methane. Or it can be due to low thyroid. Or there are many other things that interfere with proper intestinal movement. I've only listed the two most common problems.

Strong cravings for sweets. Do you have hypoglycemia? Do you crash if you haven't eaten in a while?

There are obviously problems with fast food. One of my biggest beefs is the use of hydrogenated and polyunsaturated oils. The polyunsaturated oils will encourage yeast growth in the intestines.

Diet Coke. Please read about aspartame. That artificial sweetener is in many of the diet drinks. It is very hard on the body. You are much better off drinking sugar water.

As for the fatigue, you might look into thyroid. Low thyroid can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. That overgrowth can change the immune system so that the thyroid is down regulated. It is a vicious cycle. You can help break it by getting some thyroid, especially thyroid preparations like Armour, which contain some T3 thyroid. Read about Broda Barne's work. He has a book called Hypothyroidism: The unsuspected Illness.

"I just think that my body may be in shock from significant changes being made."

Of course. You have a lot of work ahead of you. Many changes to be made. No more eating out at fast food restaurants for you. Smile Smile

What supplements are you taking now?

Dee Dee,

If you're not aware of how important it is to supplement as well with a good probiotic or probiotic food like yogurt or kefir, please get familiar with it. Lack of good intestinal flora or bacteria is one thing that can cause candida and other health problems. Finding the right one can be a challenge, but buy one with several different strains or try drinking kefir. Here's a couple of good links about probiotics and specifically kefir.
